Membership Benefits

Becoming a member with the Toyota Car Club of Australia Inc. (VIC) offers access to a number of benefits.

Firstly there is the social aspect of the club. If you want to get out of the shed, or get off the couch, and talk to some like minded enthusiasts, our General Meeting each month offers an opportunity to mix with a group of all ages. Some of us are into circuit racing, some are into motorkhanas and some are into polishing their pride and joy and taking it for a Sunday drive. Some of us dream of doing one or all three!

As we are a CAMS affiliated club, we can help you with your first steps in motorsport. Membership of the Club allows you to then apply for a CAMS licence and take up some form of motorsport activity. As the club has long history of competition in various disciplines, there will undoubtedly be someone in the club who can help you with ideas and suggestions on how to go faster and get the most from your car.

We also participate in the Vicroads Club/Historic Rego scheme. Members of the club can put their car on club plates and save quite a bit of money on registration costs. More details can be found on the Club Plates page.

Other benefits include a club sticker on signing up with the club, a monthly newsletter (print and email) and members can join an email mailing list that notifies them of any interesting old Toyota's coming up for sale on our For Sale pages. We let our members know first about the dream "one owner" classics that we hear about on the grape vine, and if no one is interested will then advertise them on our For Sales page. With some of the cars that have come up in recent months, this is worth the price of membership alone if you are looking for an old toy to play with!

Joining the Club

It is, in fact, very simple. All you have to do is download the Application Form (PDF), print it, fill it in and send it to us. For new members: If you would like a CAMS Level 2 Competition Licence ** (which is a minimum requirement to compete in most motorsport events) please click on the link below. Once we process your membership application form, you can submit for your CAMS Level 2 Licence application. Once you receive your CAMS Licence, you're ready to compete.

** Note that there are two types of a Level 2 CAMS Licence, so it is important to indicate which events that you would like to participate in - a Level 2 Speed licence will cover tarmac and dirt events, but will cost a little extra.

Here's a list of our Current Fee Structure as at September 9, 2003:

  • Single Full Membership
  • $50
  • Junior Full Membership (under 18 years of age)

    Competing in Motorsport

Getting involved in club motorsport is not as scary as you might think. If you want to get your car out on to a race track or practice your precision driving skills in the dirt, you will generally only need to do a few things to start competing. These include:

Once you have done these few things, and your car is in good mechanical order, you are ready to compete! In most club events you are not racing other cars, but racing the clock, trying to improve your own times. This ensures that the big accidents and panel damage you see on the TV doesn't generally happen, though accidents can still happen!

Our members have competed at race circuits including Phillip Island, Winton, Calder, Broadford and Sandown, Hillclimbs at Rob Roy, Ararat, Haunted Hills and more. Motorkhana dirt action is generally centred around the club's ground at Gillman Reserve Werribee, but events also occur through out the state. Have a look in the photo gallery if you would like to see some of the members in action.
