The 40th Anniversary of Toyota MR2

The VIC MR2 Club is looking to formally invite any MR2s and Drivers that have raced MR2s in Australia to the 40th Anniversary Event at Sandown International Raceway on Sunday 29 October 2023.They're also looking for drawcard MR2s, like the SW20 Spyder, “WOTAMI”, the Ferrari kit MR2 and the weird and wonderful ones original and modified as well.

Background: The first prototype Toyota MR2 was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1983. It is this date and event that they wish to celebrate with an “MR2 40th Anniversary Motor Show”, at Sandown, Melbourne.

Ten years ago, they conducted a similar event for the 30th Anniversary in the carpark at the Alma Doepel ship and workshop car park and exceeded our 50 expected cars with 93 MR2 that attended the event. This is a record for the most MR2s in one place in Australia. Photos of this event adorn many social media groups and websites.

Target for the 40th Anniversary Event is over 100 MR2s.

If you own a MR2, bring your much loved ride to the show (both or more if you are lucky enough to own more than one) to celebrate this special occasion AND to meet other MR2 owners that share the same passion for these cars. Please help spread to word amongst your friends that might be interested in the event too.

The Adrenaline V8 Supercar Rides will be operating on the same weekend at Sandown. Rides begin with 2 Passenger Laps for $220, or $1,400 for 20 Laps with a celebrity driver. Click here to book.

TCCAV Pre-Meet Details

TCCAV Members attending the event are encouraged to meet at the Sandown Park Hotel before the show so you can all drive in and display together.

With over 100 MR2's already entered it is sure to be a cracking day.

Pre-Meet Time: 8:30AM
Depart for Sandown (2 mins drive) at 9:15AM as a group.
